The New Silk Road business forum was held in Astana, the main topic of which was the integration of transport systems and the development of the Middle Corridor route.

By 2027, it is planned to switch Kazakhstani railway transport to ecological technologies. To reduce environmental pollution, the country is considering purchasing gas locomotives.

Discussing infrastructure projects, Kazakh Minister of Transport Marat Karabayev drew attention to the start of construction of the second railway track and the Dostyk-Moynty railway section in the Karaganda region. “This will increase capacity fivefold and increase transfer speeds to 1500 kilometers,” he said.

Middle corridor routes:

Kazakhstan's transit potential is growing thanks to the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), also known as the Middle Corridor. In the first quarter of this year alone, rail freight volumes along the TITR increased by almost 64% to 433 tonnes.

The 26th International Transport and Logistics Exhibition took place during the event, attended by business representatives, government officials and diplomats from 25 countries.

During the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Karabayev emphasized that "Kazakhstan is a reliable partner and a transit bridge between Asia and Europe."

“Compared to last year, the number of exhibitors increased by 40%. This proves the interest of foreign companies in doing business in Kazakhstan,” said Gulzhana Abdusharipova, host of the exhibition.

Over 225 companies took part in the event. Participants agreed on the need to improve the efficiency of cargo transport and delivery conditions. Source: Assem Assaniyaz for Astana Times
