From the beginning of October this year. There is an Italian strike of employees at the Gdańsk Baltic Hub port, which results in serious operational problems. Container ship jams at the port roadside lead to significant delays in deliveries. One of the main problems is the lack of workers to operate the port square.

✅The Danish company Maersk announced that due to difficulties in the Port of Gdańsk, it moved some imported cargo to Gdynia, which is a temporary solution. However, the capacity of the Gdynia terminals is much lower than in Gdańsk, which poses a risk to the continuity of supplies to the Polish market.

✅The situation in the port of Gdańsk is still tense, and Maersk container ships are standing in the roadstead waiting to enter the port, which is an unprecedented situation. Problems at the port have an impact on transport companies, which have announced a protest, demanding a quick resolution of wage disputes with the crew and an end to the Italian strike, employment of additional employees and changes to the operating system to sort out logistical issues.

✅Baltic Hub, owned by various companies, employs over 1,1 thousand. people. The whole situation is a challenge for both carriers and port operators, and may also affect the continuity of supplies to the Polish maritime market.

Due to the current situation in ports, more and more customers use rail freight, which is a safe and reliable form of transport.
