What are pallet shipments?

Pallet shipment is a form of transport dedicated to loads weighing more than 50 kg and dimensions exceeding standard dimensions. A characteristic feature of this method of transport is the transport of goods on a pallet. In the market, the most popular are industrial pallets with dimensions of 120 x 100 cm or so-called Euro pallets with dimensions of 120 x 80 cm. For smaller loads, half pallets are also used, the width of which is 60 cm and the length is 80 cm. Courier pallets with dimensions of 120 x 120 cm are also used in transport. Such constructions can carry loads weighing up to 1500 kg and a height exceeding 2 m. Thanks to this, they enable the transport of heavy and large-sized goods. A pallet is a load unit whose task is, on the one hand, to facilitate the transport of large-size loads, and on the other hand, it is responsible for the stabilization and safety of the load. Therefore, before loading, make sure that the pallet structure is not damaged - otherwise it may not support the heavy weight and tilt during transport. In addition, packages on a pallet must be arranged in such a way that they do not protrude beyond the outline of the pallet. weight on pallet shipment it should also be evenly distributed, which will prevent the possible movement of individual goods on the structure. If you plan to send different products on a pallet, it is worth making sure that the heaviest elements are placed as low as possible, and the lightest elements as high as possible. This will increase the stability of the entire structure. Finally, the entire pallet should be wrapped in foil and, if necessary, secured with safety belts. 

Pallet shipment is undoubtedly a beneficial solution in the case of large goods (with dimensions of one side exceeding 2 m) or bulk goods. Note, however, that in the case of pallet shipments the price is often more than 200% higher. Pallet transport is successfully implemented in international and domestic transport. Pallet shipments are carried out both by larger courier companies and as part of the forwarding of goods by transport companies.
